Formative Evaluation of Job Clubs Operated by Faith- And Community-Based Organizations

On May 9, 2014, the Department of Labor's Chief Evaluation Office released a report titled, "Formative Evaluation of Job Clubs Operated by Faith- And Community-Based Organizations."

Based on a detailed literature review, interviews with stakeholders, and site visits to 16 job clubs in six metro areas (Atlanta, Cleveland, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco, Washington DC) across the country, the report provides an in-depth view of job clubs and career ministries that have participated in the Department's Job Clubs Initiative.

The report finds that job clubs offer a range of services, and the growth of these groups in recent years has especially been driven by long-term unemployed professionals seeking networking and support assistance through these largely volunteer-run groups.
